Usage privacy

Optional usage reporting helps ToolHut's owner understand which tools produce useful results and which need fixes. Collection starts disabled and can be enabled only after account setup, a privacy decision and release approval. This page describes the feature when enabled.

Daily totals, without your tool data

The browser can send only a fixed tool name and a fixed outcome: started, completed, output generated, invalid input, processing failure or calculator variable saved. The server adds a UTC date and increments that daily total. Each outcome is attempted at most once per tool in a loaded page. Reloading or opening a new tab can count again; totals represent page instances, not unique people.

Expressions, results, variable names and values, notes, filenames, file contents, clipboard text, URLs, referrers, IP addresses and device details are excluded from these usage requests and the usage database. There are no visitor IDs, tracking cookies, fingerprints, event feeds, persistent delivery queues or cross-page identifiers. File processing remains in your browser.

Your choice on this device

Opting out stops usage reporting for this browser. The only usage preference stored on this device is a boolean recording your explicit opt-out choice; it cannot identify you. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track are also honoured. Existing advertising-consent controls are separate; reporting stays withheld when an advertising consent manager is configured or detected.

JavaScript is required to save this browser preference. Collection requires JavaScript too.

Storage and access

Daily application totals are stored with Cloudflare D1 and can be accessed only through the owner's password-protected report, which starts disabled. The active report table keeps today and the preceding 89 UTC dates. Older dates are excluded from reports and removed on the first suitable event or authenticated report request of a new day. If there is no activity, physical deletion waits until a suitable request resumes.

Cloudflare D1's separate recovery history can retain earlier database states (currently seven days on Free). Deleting active rows does not immediately erase that recovery history. Cloudflare also processes ordinary network and security information, including IP addresses, to host and protect this site; those records are separate from the usage totals. Only the owner signs in to a private report; visitors use the tools without logging in.

The separate, optional Cloudflare Web Analytics pageview feature is not combined with these totals to claim exact conversion rates. Reloads, opt-outs, delivery failures, date boundaries and automated browsers can affect the numbers.

Questions about usage reporting: hello@toolhut.org. Because daily totals contain no visitor identity, the report cannot look up or remove an individual's use.
