Try a word-search quiz
Choose Quiz and enter HEART with the clue “Which organ pumps blood around the body?” Add LUNGS with “Which organs help us breathe?” Students find the answers in the grid from the numbered clues. The teacher key marks those same answers and includes the clue-to-answer mapping.

- How do I get the answer key?
- Switch the preview to Answer key. Download the key alone or both student puzzle and teacher key; the key starts on a separate page and uses the same grid.
- Can I download and print a PDF?
- Download PDF creates the file directly in your browser. Choose A4 or US Letter and puzzle, answer key or both. Long text continues on extra pages. Print opens your browser print dialog.
- How does difficulty work?
- Easy uses → and ↓. Medium adds ↘ and ↗. Hard uses all eight directions and prefers overlaps. All levels may share matching letters.
- Can I use accented words?
- English, French and Spanish Latin letters, including café, niño, élève and ç, keep their accents. Composed and decomposed accents are treated consistently. Spaces and punctuation are omitted from grid answers; original display text stays in the word bank.
- What happens to unplaced words?
- Only placed words or clues appear on worksheets. The placement report gives the reason for each omission. Enlarge the grid, fix the list or explicitly approve a partial export. A puzzle with no placed words cannot be exported.
- Can I reopen a saved puzzle?
- Use Save editable puzzle to download a versioned local JSON file, then Open saved puzzle to restore its inputs, clues, settings, exact grid and answer locations. The file contains teacher answers; keep it separate from student worksheets.
- How does Quiz mode work?
- Enter an answer such as HEART and a clue such as “Which organ pumps blood around the body?” Students see numbered clues instead of a word bank. The teacher key marks answers and includes their clue mappings. Switching modes keeps each list.
Formats & limits
- Maximum 80 entries, 20,000 total characters per mode (including Quiz answers and clues), 25 grid letters per answer and 1,000 characters per clue.
- Automatic sizing or manual 5–25 grids. Placement uses bounded attempts and may be incomplete.
- The local filler check covers a small English/French/Spanish list and cannot guarantee classroom suitability. Review all vocabulary and generated worksheets.
- Maximum 80 line breaks across Quiz clues and 8 pages per puzzle or answer key; shorten overflow before exporting. PDF pages are high-resolution images, so their text is not selectable. PNG export downloads one file per page.
Privacy
Generation and exports run in your browser. Words and clues are not sent to analytics, public URLs or server storage. Saved puzzle files stay on your device.
